Our patients have visited from around the world. They have come from northern Maine to California, with just about every state in between. Our Canadian friends have come from Nova Scotia, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and all the way from northern Vancouver near the Alaskan border where a couple had two full days of travel to arrive in New Hampshire. We have seen a large group of patients from England, representing many cultures, and our friends from abroad have come from Aruba, Ireland, Portugal, Hungary, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Singapore.
We honor these ladies and their families for making what sometimes seems to be an incredible journey to be treated for vaginismus. All of these patients have failed years of treatment and some have failed treatment with Botox, even multiple Botox treatments. I have mentioned elsewhere on this website that Botox in of itself will not cure vaginismus. The entire program of Botox injections, progressive dilation and very importantly, post procedure counseling and continued support, are all the needed ingredients for a successful outcome in the treatment of vaginismus. It is because of the program and post procedure support that we provide, that an extensive trip can be very worthwhile.
Most of our out-of-state and out-of-country patients use this excursion as an opportunity to visit a part of the world they have never seen. They routinely visit New York (“The Big Apple”), and Boston (“Bean Town”). Some have taken excursions to Acadia National Park in northern Maine while others have enjoyed the local flavor in and around New Hampshire. All of our patients become a part of our extended family and we make every attempt to make this visit as meaningful as possible. We love our area. All of us on staff have vacationed throughout the region and we are happy to function as “tour guides” giving information and providing maps of the regional highlights. For those on a tight time schedule, even the three days of visit can be an opportunity for enrichment. Afternoons are generally free and with a rented car it is easy to visit some of the nearby sites. The Atlantic ocean with a beautiful drive along routes 1A and 1B north to Portsmouth is only 30 minutes east from the office. Portsmouth founded in 1630 is a small city with a bustling downtown area and wonderful gardens in the summer months and restaurants all year. Boston is only one hour to the south.
If you decide to have the Botox treatment program for vaginismus, please stay a while or come early to enjoy the beauty and culture of our region. Come back after you have toured the area for a follow up appointment to see how you are doing and to receive any additional coaching or insights. No matter what your travel plans, we will make every effort that you not only get cured from your condition of vaginismus but that you will leave with fond memories.
New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine
These three states of Northern New England enjoy a wealth of scenic beauty and interesting sites. A number of links will take you to some of our favorite places. Although originally from New York City, where I grew up and trained, I have had the joy of practicing and raising my family in New Hampshire for over thirty years and feel lucky to be located in such a special region of our country. We have four wonderful seasons. Our fall is very special with the change of the colors. People travel from far and wide to experience this spectacle of color that peaks in late September in the northern White Mountains to late October in Massachusetts. Mid October is peak season in the Manchester area. Our winters are cold but equally as beautiful. When the trees are covered with snow and ice and it is a bright sunny crisp day, New England becomes a winter wonderland. The many winter sports from snow shoeing to cross country skiing and downhill skiing are available in the White Mountains, and rentals are available at the ski slopes. The nearby ski slopes of Waterville Valley, Canon Mountain and Loon Mountain are open most of the year. Even in the summer it is fun to take a gondola, chair lift or tram to the top of the mountain. Spring is a burst of color as flowers and flowering trees regenerate themselves for another growing season. Our summers are beautiful, warm and sunny with mostly clear skies. I have done extensive cycling, hiking and skiing throughout the region with family. I am a lucky Dad to have my three daughters in the New England area, as they never wanted to settle elsewhere.
Around the Office
There is much to do around the office including a walk along the nearby streets to view the many old historic Victorian homes. The Currier Art Gallery is a famous small museum just minutes from the office. Extensive hiking trails and mountain biking trails (cross country skiing in the winter) at Massabesic Lake reservoir are just fifteen minutes from the office or stop at the lake parking lot with its picnic benches overlooking the lake. Massabesic is the water source for Manchester. Shop at the nearby tax-free shopping mall, or enjoy a pleasant half-hour drive to the sea coast. Hampton Beach on the Atlantic ocean and the beaches along Route 1A north towards Portsmouth are fun to walk and visit. Further north on 1A, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, one of our country’s oldest cities with a bustling downtown area and homes dating back to the 1600’s and 1700’s, is a mere 45 minutes from the office. “Strawberry Banke” is a re-creation of historic Portsmouth. Maine is just over the bridge, five minutes north from Portsmouth, where you can enjoy a meal of Maine lobster. Drive along Maine 103 connecting to Maine 1A to see the rocky shore line and harbor villages. Stop in York Harbor, Maine where you can walk a beautiful 30 minute cliff trail, and dine in the nearby restaurant overlooking the Atlantic. Nubble Point Lighthouse, on Cape Neddick, Maine is another 30 minutes to the north along a very scenic route that takes you along portions of the rocky Maine coast and more sandy beaches at Long Beach in York Beach, Maine. Ogunquit, Maine has beaches and a quaint New England village with arts and crafts.
Visit The Lake District in the mid portion of New Hampshire featuring beautiful lakes such as Lake Sunapee and Lake Winnipesaukee. Squam Lake is where “On Golden Pond” was filmed. Boat rentals are available at most of these large lakes. Western New Hampshire boasts historic towns, such as Hancock and Peterborough. The magnificent White Mountains are located less than two hours to the north. Drive the famous Kancamagas Highway which cuts through the mountains and provides beautiful vistas.
While New Hampshire is forested with trees, pastoral Vermont, to the west, has open rolling hills, farms and an abundance of small interesting villages such as Craftsbury and Middlebury. Visit Burlington and take a ferry ride across Lake Champlain. The Green Mountains are in the northern part of the state with hiking and winter activities. The drive to Montreal, north of Burlington, goes along a series of islands in the northern part of Lake Champlain.
Boston, Massachusetts is an hour to the south and an easy drive along interstate 93. One can take the coastal route and stop at the quaint village of Newburyport and the fishing village of Gloucester on the Cape Ann peninsula. South of Boston travel to Cape Cod and take the ferries to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard Islands. Contact the local tourist bureaus who can supply an abundance of information and maps. Visit Google images to get an idea of the splendor of these various areas. Our office is more than happy to provide maps and gazetteers to help you make the most of New England’s unique beauty and features. We can also advise you about our favorite places to eat and fine dining experiences.
The Best Way to Get Here
Manchester, NH has a busy regional airport servicing most of the U.S. and is only about 15 minutes from our office. Quality accommodations can be found at the Radisson Hotel, only ten minutes from our office, and 15 minutes from the airport. Our patients can enjoy a special discounted rate by mentioning Dr. Peter Pacik when making a reservation. For more information visit the Radisson website or phone the reservations manager, Peter Palandri, at 603-625-1000. Several casual restaurants, ethnic restaurants and fine dining are just minutes away from the office. We can advise you about our favorite places to eat. The Red Arrow Diner is just minutes from the Radisson Hotel where many famous politicians have rested their derrieres during our first in the nation primaries and is open 24 hours a day.
We recommend our international patients fly into Boston (one hour south of Manchester). Car rentals are available. New York City and Montreal are both about a five-hour drive from our office. When flying into Boston bus service is available to Manchester, however flying into New York, or Montreal, note that public transportation is indirect and lengthy, so it is best to rent a car.
We want your visit to be very special. Our cure rate for vaginismus has remained very high since its inception in 2005. Our goal, first and foremost, is the cure of your condition. But we also want you to enjoy your stay and leave with fond memories of our office and the beautiful surroundings.
