Fees for Vaginismus Treatment

For an exact quote for vaginismus treatment it is best to call the office. As of 2015, insurance companies are doing a better job of covering at least a portion of the fees. Younger women are often covered under their parent’s policies. There are numerous aspects to the treatment including Botox, progressive dilation under anesthesia and extensive post procedure counseling as well as long term follow-up and support. These areas are itemized when submitting claims to the insurance company. Financing is available through Care Credit.

What goes into the vaginismus fee?

The cost of vaginismus treatment includes review of the completed questionnaires, initial phone call to the patient, consultation fees, the procedure itself, the cost of Botox, anesthesia services and drugs, surgicenter, surgicenter staffing and supplies, recovery room, post-procedure counseling, staffing for two to three days of care and long-term follow-up. Our costs include the anesthesiologist, anesthesia drugs, upkeep of the operating room equipment, new equipment as needed such as anesthesia machines, autoclaves, operating room tables, resuscitative equipment, purchase of new drugs as old ones expire and the large amount of equipment needed in the operating room to ensure a safe procedure. We have monitors in the OR and also next to all beds. Additionally, we pay surgical techs, recovery room nurses, administrative support staff, all the expenses of running a practice and insurances, including malpractice insurance.

Quoted vaginismus fees are good for six months

Because of the ever-changing costs involved in the Botox program (changes of cost of supplies and drugs, equipment, Botox, ancillary services such as anesthesia support), we honor our quoted fees for six months. This means that treatment must be performed within six months of receiving a quote. If treatment is delayed beyond this time, a quote is given for new fees if the fees have changed.

Fees for vaginismus treatment range from a few hundred dollars for a program that is self-guided to $5,850 that includes the full Botox program.

Insurance coverage for vaginismus treatment

The amount paid by insurance companies varies according to the carrier, the individual type of policy, deductibles and more.

Our office has contracted with a third party service to handle all insurance inquiries and claims. The treatment fee is pre-paid and efforts to collect from the insurance company are done after treatment has been completed. Submitting the correct codes for treatment is important to help maximize reimbursement; especially since vaginismus and vaginismus treatment is relatively unknown to the insurance companies.
