Are you missing out on the support that is so valuable?

Email to vaginismus sufferersThe following email was sent out to women who either inquired about vaginismus treatment or who were one of our many patients who have been treated. More than 400 women have requested information. Currently, as of July 2012, more than 180 patients have been treated using the Botox treatment program, with continued high success.

Are You Missing Out?

Perhaps my most important message is to urge you to become a member of the VaginismusMD Forum. I have said many times that I understood vaginismus because of my patients who have taught VaginismusMD.comme what vaginismus truly is. There is considerable misinformation and lack of information in the current scientific literature. Vaginismus is an entity to itself and should not be confused with vulvodynia or vestibulodynia (“vestibulitis”) though rarely vaginismus may be associated with other conditions.

Currently we have more than 200 members on the Forum who have posted over 800 times on more than 200 topics ranging over a wide spectrum of questions, concerns, introductions and success stories. Every post is worth reading. Every post has important information. You are missing out if you are not actively following these threads. I encourage you to not only sign up for the Forum (use a pseudonym) but to also follow the blogs and stories on the website which are constantly being updated. I encourage our “veterans” who have been treated to participate and help those who continue to struggle by offering advice, encouragement and support. This is so important. We now have a cohesive and vibrant community of vaginismus women who have the support of others and do not need to live in a world of isolation.

Other news:

We are now using the services of Diane Tremblay to help patients recover some of their costs from insurance. There are a wide variety of policies and an even wider range of re-imbursements. Even though there are no guarantees, I am finding that many insurance companies appear to be reimbursing about $2300-$3300 of the costs of the treatment. If you would like more information about this, please contact our office.

Yahoo Group, Twitter and Facebook

We now have a new yahoo group, a Twitter page and a professional Facebook page filled with news from other sources covering the topic of vaginismus. Please join, as these too will give added educational information.

For our “veteran” patients:

I love hearing from you. Every time I hear of another newborn, it touches me. Are you still pain free with intercourse? Have you had any setbacks? It is so important that all treated patients continue to give me periodic updates. It is the only way I will know the long term benefits of this form of treatment. If I have not heard from you, please drop me a note to let me know how you are doing.

I wish everyone the best.
