The VaginismusMD Forum: A Celebration of 300 Women

Vaginismus MD Forum

The VaginismusMD Forum is a place where any woman or man can ask any question about vaginismus and expect an answer. Since early 2012, 300 dedicated and vocal women have added to the strength of the VaginismusMD Forum by asking questions and disseminating information about vaginismus. The VaginismusMD Forum reads like a textbook in medicine discussing the complete range of vaginismus from symptoms to treatment and post-procedure support.

Our patients continue to achieve greater than 90% long-term cure of vaginismus as we continue to closely monitor all FDA_Approved_Botox_Vaginismustreated patients. Our FDA approved study in 2010 for the treatment of vaginismus using Botox now has one to two year follow-up and has shown that 30 of 31 patients (97%) have long-term ability to have comfortable satisfying intercourse, or for the single ladies, to comfortably use a large dilator. In this study, there were no recurrences and no complications from the Botox program to treat vaginismus. Now with more than 200 patients treated, the outcomes are similar showing an exceedingly low recurrence rate. We know that Botox by itself will not cure vaginismus but needs to be combined with progressive dilation under anesthesia and careful post-procedure follow-up with dilation, counseling and support.

I cannot begin to describe the multiple benefits of joining this group of vocal women who:

  • no longer want to feel as though they need to hide
  • do not want to feel that vaginismus is “their problem alone”
  • no longer tolerate being put down by their GYN doctors who too often tell them “It’s in your head” “Why don’t you just try to relax”
  • do not want to feel like a freak as they watch their relationships disintegrate and their self-esteem vanish
  • have tried years of failed treatments at considerable time and cost.

The power of the VaginismusMD Forum has changed all that

Froum Group

Women now have a voice and they know they can receive needed advice and guidance on the VaginismusMD Forum.

Women are now arriving for treatment much more relaxed after posting on the VaginismusMD Forum. Buckets of tears have been replaced by smiles knowing that success is around the corner when they arrive for treatment. Patients are now concerned that they are not nervous before treatment and wondering if they should be more nervous!

Introductions on the VaginismusMD Forum

The introductions section of the vaginismusMD Forum is a place to introduce yourself, share your personal story, ask Stories of Vaginismusquestions, and discuss ALL aspects of vaginismus and the treatment program. Women are encouraged to tell their stories. This is the first stage of healing allowing a woman to feel she no longer needs to be in hiding, that what she has experienced has been experienced by others and to expect the support and validation of other women.

A recent February 2013 thread on the VaginismusMD Forum is the story of a woman who was catheterized many times as a child. This eventually led to her vaginismus as has been heard from other patients. This is one of many reasons why some women develop an aversion to penetration.
