The Power of the VaginismusMD Forum

Vaginismus MD ForumThe VaginismusMD Forum empowers our patients who are going to receive the Botox treatment for vaginismus. The Forum also empowers our patients who have been treated and are transitioning to intercourse. The VaginismusMD Forum also empowers women who have been struggling with vaginismus for years by giving them a voice and hope that there can be a cure for this condition.

“Empower: To give ability to; enable or permit”

The VaginismusMD Forum is truly a vehicle that EMPOWERS women suffering from vaginismus. I encourage every woman who contacts us about our Botox treatment and progressive dilation for vaginismus to join the VaginismusMD Forum and to read as many posts as possible.

The following posting from “Alyx” of her success has empowered many others!

Alyx was 29 when she first contacted me. She was married for five years and suffered from the most severe form of vaginismus, not being able to tolerate any form of penetration. Anxiety was close to being off the charts. Her first attempted intercourse was at age 17. She failed numerous attempts at treatment, which included:

Kegels 40 weeks; attempts at dilating 45 weeks; psychotherapy 168 weeks; physical therapy 40 weeks; sex counseling 168 weeks; lubricants 144 weeks; topical anesthetics 8 weeks; muscle relaxants 24 weeks; anti-anxiety medication 24 weeks; anti-depressant medication 48 weeks. (For many of my patients being shunted from therapist to therapist is well known!)

Alyx’s libido continued to deteriorate, scoring a low 4.8 on the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) out of a possible total of 36 for someone with strong libido.

Fourteen months after treatment and countless daily logs she posted on the VaginismusMD Forum under “Success Stories – We did it!” the following:

Blurb ptWE DID IT, WE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m soo ecstatic!!! I just want to shout HALLELUJAH!!! We did it last night finally!! – On Thanksgiving night – how ironic is that!!! It took several attempts, but we did it!! I don’t even remember the last time I dilated and we didn’t have any of the lube that I love or anything!! I’m sooo grateful!! I’ve been praying for this for 7 years!!! (that’s how long we’ve been married).

Had my procedure over a year ago . . . I got extremely discouraged after several months passed and I’d been dilating and we’d been trying everything and nothing seemed to work for us. I truly thought I was the one person this procedure wouldn’t work for. I became super depressed and everything. Then last night we didn’t even expect much to happen and boom!! It did!! We still have to work on the thrusting, but that’s ok . . . got it all the way in!! I cried like 3 or 4 times – and we just sat there for I promise like over 30 minutes!!! I did some kegels and stuff to try to get used to how he felt instead of the dilators! God is sooo good!!

Please, please, please, don’t get discouraged!! Just when we weren’t expecting it, it happened!! You can do it ladies!! Don’t get depressed like me . . . Just let go and let it happen!!

Thank you Dr. Pacik, Ms. Sue and the rest of the team!! Keep doing what you’re doing!! Even when gals like me get super sad and stop responding! Love you all!!! Oh and Ladies keep in touch with the girl Dr. P connects you with . . . mine has become a serious bestie . . . I call her my buddy and we text all the time. Love you chica!! (cause I know she’ll read this).

WE DID IT!!!

Heather, our moderator who struggled for fifteen years wrote in another post on the VaginismusMD Forum under the category “Support for the Forum”

Blurb ptHi ladies. In an earlier post, Alyx wrote of her success with intercourse 14 months post-procedure. What courage and true determination and I am so proud of you Alyx!!! She also described her struggles with depression during her journey to overcome vaginismus and wrote of becoming super sad and stopping communicating and responding. During this time, I communicated often with her as I would either write to her on the Forum or send her one of my random text messages. We developed a wonderful friendship and I thank you for this Dr. Pacik. Today, I want each and every one of you reading this to know that I am truly here for you as well, whether you are a seasoned veteran, a newly treated patient, one who is waiting for your upcoming procedure, or one who has just discovered this website and Forum for the very first time. It is so important to know that you are not alone and you have all of us behind you and supporting you every step of the way. All my best, Heather

Nakitalab (one of our newer moderators to the VaginismusMD Forum) responded and wrote:

Blurb ptpI second that, Heather. I also want everyone to know that I am here for you and that you are not alone anymore! That in itself is a huge blessing to me because for over 31 years I thought I was the only person who suffered with this, that I was a freak, not a true woman, truly alone. This forum has been so very helpful to me as I know it has been to so many others. We are not alone anymore. We have each other and I’m truly here for each and every one of you 24/7.

The Empowerment of the Support System for women suffering from Vaginismus

Vaginismus support groupWhether painful or impossible intercourse was recently discovered, or like Heather who struggled for 15 years and Nakitalab who struggled for 31 years, both were able to achieve their goals. There is a common thread of feeling like a “freak” and that you are the only one suffering from this condition. Who do you speak to about this? Do you open up to friends and family? When are you going to start a family? These are all the emotions that tear at us day in and day out. Yet it is not necessary to travel this path alone.

Any woman who has been treated for vaginismus knows the importance of supporting others. The outpouring of support from the ladies who have conquered vaginismus constantly amazes me. Please remember that you are not alone and that there are many who will support you both on the VaginismusMD Forum and myself personally with emails and phone calls.
